Scuba Diving Mexico – Your One-stop Diving Hub

October 2, 2018

If you are a scuba diving enthusiast, you need to plan a tour to one of the Mexican scuba diving centers. The country is endowed with magnificent scenery, beautiful beaches and top-notch diving sites. You will be spoilt for choice when looking for the best spot to enjoy scuba diving.

Traditionally, Mexico’s Caribbean coast has been the hub of scuba divers sailing to Cancun. Nevertheless, multiple new dive spots have come up. There are thousands of places where you can dive and explore. It is up to you to choose where you want to say in the many amazing places including Yucatan Peninsula, Under Water museum, Cancun, Cozumel, Isla Guadalupe, Playa Del Carmen, Socorro, Banco Chinc and Cenotes among many others. This article highlights four amazing scuba diving Mexico sites.

Yucatan Peninsula

This site is located between the Riviera Maya and Costa Maya. Diving aficionados emphasize that this dive spot is the best in Mexico with lukewarm waters since the Yucatan Peninsula and the Caribbean Sea warm waters join here. What is more, the Caribbean provides clear blue waters that give you clear visibility under the water. Whether you are an experienced or a novice scuba diver, this spot will make your heart skip a beat with pleasure.

Banco Chinchorro

This diving site is a protected area near the Coast of Maya close to the Mexico-Belize border. The spot is a remote location characterized by the coral reef in their last stage of formation. Banco Chinchorro boasts impressive coral reef colors and different fishes and other types of marine animals.

This dive site mainly attracts the hardened scuba divers. Since it is a protected site, you will need special permits from the Mexican government to access the place. For those who want privacy, the location is somewhat remote, and only a few pre-authorized groups come to the place. As such, your time applying for the permits will be worth since you can find a spot where you and your friends can dive peacefully.

Grand Cenote Island

Just like other major Mexican diving spots, Grand Cenote Island is famous snorkelling and diving place the Riviera Maya. The waters are close to the Talum city, but in a jungle. Despite the location of this site, the scuba diving pool is a lovely destination to take your whole family. The magnificent sinkhole is near a big parking lot and a staircase that takes you to the big Cenote shaped like a crescent, and it’s a gem hidden in the jungle. There are also stalagmites and stalactites as big as the New York models; slender with large roots that seem to be growing from the water but are connected to the trees in the jungle.

Underwater Museum

This site, commonly called MUSA, is a popular destination for scuba divers from across the world. The clear waters are inviting warm; you will enjoy exploring them. Its main aim is to demonstrate the interaction between environmental science and art. The location is the home to 500 life-sized art pieces, which are fixed on the seabed and are all created using special materials that promote healthy coral life. Apart from scuba diving, you can ride the glass boat and also enjoy snorkeling.

These are just some of the best places for unforgettable diving experience in Mexico. They have clear and warm waters, which is excellent for both seasoned divers and beginners.
