6 Useful ways to spend your time on the queues

January 2, 2018

Whether you’re looking to kill time while you’re queuing up for tickets at the movies or hate waiting in line at a bank, simply continue reading to discover 6 useful ways to spend your time in queues.

6 Useful ways to spend your time on the queues:

Clear your inbox

If you’re guilty of letting your unread emails pile up, you may want to spend any spare time you have, waiting in queues, to clear your inbox, using your smartphone. While you may not have time to respond to every email which you read, you’ll be able to mark important emails, which you should reply to properly, as soon as you get home or back to the office.

Make a shopping list

If you never get around to compiling shopping lists, it’s well worth using the notepad feature on your smartphone, to create a shopping list for your next trip to the grocery store. It’s well worth using your time queuing up to think about the various meals which you plan on making in the next week as well as the ingredients you’ll need to cook each meal. This will also help save money as you aren’t impulse buying. If you’re stuck for recipe inspiration, you can even use your phone’s data to look up new recipes. Lastly, if you’re running short on time you may also be able to order your groceries online.

Call a family member or an old friend

In today’s social media-obsessed age, many individuals fail to make the effort to have a voice chat with family members or old friends. So it’s well worth utilizing time queuing to give your grandparents a quick call or to call an old friend to see how they’re getting on with their new job, relationship or baby. After all, there’s no better way to strengthen your relationships, than by making time to talk with your loved ones. You may even be surprised by just how satisfying it is to have an old-fashioned voice chat, instead of exchanging meaningless likes on social media applications.

Play online games

Standing in line can be super boring and sometimes stressful. You don’t know how long the line will take, or you’re sitting there thinking about everything else you have to get done that day, like cook dinner, pick up the kids from school, finish laundry, and so on. Fortunately, thanks to the internet and cell phones, it is so easy to access the internet from pretty much anywhere. So, why not pass time and relax by playing one of your favourite games or test your luck at a poker game? There are so many options out there for fun games to play, and you can even win money at the same time! Check out and download your favourite games and betting sites like Betfair for the next time you are stuck waiting in line. Before you know it, the line will have passed.

Learn a new language

Whether you’re keen on traveling or are looking to learn a new language to make your cv stand out, it’s well worth learning a new language such as Japanese, Mandarin or Spanish. If you’re interested, you may want to consider downloading a language app such as Babel or Duolingo onto your smartphone. That way, if you’re stuck in a queue that’s moving at a snail’s pace, you’ll be able to practice your reading comprehension, pronunciation, and grammar, in order to kill time.

Sort through your phone’s photo library

If you’re guilty of taking hundreds or thousands of photographs, with the intention of sorting through and deleting any photos you don’t like, at a later date, it’s well worth using your time queuing up to properly sort through your smart phone’s photo library. After all, you don’t need 100 photos from the same event or 30 photos of the same statue, which you visited on vacation. If you find it difficult deleting photos, you may want to start with photos which are blurry and unfocused.

So next time you find yourself in a slow-moving queue, it’s well worth using the suggestions listed above, in order to make the best possible use of your free time!
