An Effective Guide to Manage Depression

June 3, 2019

Nowadays, the stresses are usually mental rather than physical, as unsettled worries can trigger anxiety.

Some people don’t get affected but others are more sensitive and in extreme cases can be incapacitated or get ill by extreme stress.

It can be treated through cognitive therapies or medications. Psychotherapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy or CBT, can be very helpful with acute panic disorder.

There are many types of medications available for the treatment of anxiety and depression as very effective.

  1. Causes of Depression

Depression is a serious medical illness that involves the mental health of a person. It’s not just the feeling of “blue” for a few days.

The feelings of depression tend to interfere with your day-to-day life. Depression is simply a response to a loss or the threat of one. A proponent of cognitive theory believes that a person has repeated negative thoughts. This affects the outlook of the person’s life and then eventually, the negativity becomes a real depressive illness. Physical illness and depression, sometimes the depression occurs as part of another physical illness.

The starting age for depression is from 15 to 30, and it is most common in women. After the birth of a baby, women can get postpartum depression. There are beneficial treatments available for depression, which include antidepressants and talk therapy.

According to Dr. David Thomas, the causes of major depressive disorder can be varied. There are two types of depression. There is thinking depression which is called as endogenous depression, which is a chemical depression. The major depressive disorder tends to be chemically driven, but not always, unlike depression, it tends to be of a much shorter duration but is much more intense.

Many times depression leads to suicide depression directly affect the person mental health. When a person suffers pain, the mind can fracture, but it is invisible. When people are sad to an extent, they slip into an emotional coma or emotionally paralyzed. The age limit of mental illnesses is reducing.

  1. Symptoms of Depression

Depression symptoms can be abstruse. Symptoms like losing interest in things that made them happy once, feeling tired like all the energy has drained, not able to eat enough or eating too much. Problem of oversleeping, or having trouble while sleeping, having trouble while concentrating or remembering certain things. The feeling of worthlessness, energy loss, and thoughts of death or suicide are common factors in depression seen in people who are suffering from depression.

Some people with depression also face the problem of anxiety; with help depression can be effectively treated. Counselling, medication, or both can be helpful. Talk to your doctor about getting screened for depression.

A large number of people suffer from stress because of the reduction of emotional interactions; this disconnection leads to stress. Depression leads to minor problems, which are not good for health like panic attacks where there is a feeling of restlessness. Besides that, there’s generalized anxiety disorder in this disorder people start thinking negatively and worry about the future.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder, in this disorder, a person washes his hands repeatedly. The person starts having irrational thought he can’t control his action. This action is called compulsion, and this thought is called obsession.

  1. How TO Deal With Depression and Sadness

There are a few differences between depression and feeling down. If a person is depressed, he or she is going to lose interest in things which they like to do.

Weight change is also a big issue either you gain weight or lose weight. Feeling low energy or fatigue is pretty typical for depression. Depression like the other three blocks to happiness on which there is anxiety, anger, and guilt are nothing more than a reflection of thought, and it is called cognitive depression. Here’s how you can track your happiness.

Along with cognitive depression, there is also biological endogenous depression, which is a genetic predisposition towards being depressed. To deal with depression, they should overcome by looking primary changing thinking the thoughts associated with depression tend to be h1 plus h2, which is hopelessness plus helplessness. The hopelessness is the idea that somehow things are not going to get better and helplessness is that they can’t do anything about that.

Primarily thinking is concerned about maximizing rational thinking and minimizing irrational thinking the primary way to do that is first to isolate what you are depressed about. Ask yourself what you are thinking about the particular event and then determine whether those thoughts are rational or irrational. There are various ways to determine whether it’s rational or irrational, but the primary way is that rational thinking if they can remember the acronym ELF. E-stands for empirical data it is the thought which has fact or fiction. L-stands for logical which doesn’t make sense and F-means functional it doesn’t help in achieving long term goals.

By passing those three criteria of the rational thought, it’s probably helping in driving that emotion. Depression, frustration, anxiety, pain, disillusion, it’s just a natural part of the process of becoming a stronger version of oneself. Depression is not just sadness. While sadness is a tangible feeling, depression can feel empty like nothing at all. Depression and sadness can sometimes look alike. Depression can be unexplainable in the end. Depression keeps oneself stuck in darkness. Sadness is a very real and difficult emotion to process, but depression is an overwhelming numbness that requires professional help.

In depression, people get mentally exhausted and feel helpless and these types of feeling are quite strong.

Conclusion

There are many helplines where they can contact just as any other illness depression should also be taken seriously and contact Psychiatrist as soon as possible.
