7 Popular Cakes That Are Best Suited For All Occasions

March 3, 2020

Cakes are synonymous with celebrations. They add delight, no matter how ordinary the day is. For centuries, cakes have been considered auspicious and made an integral part of every celebration. For instance, wedding cakes hold a long-standing tradition where cake cutting is considered as the first activity done by the couple and feeding each other a small bite, symbolising commitment. Also, couples usually save the top tier of the cake for the anniversary or christening ceremony. Not just this, birthday cakes date back to the era of ancient Greeks when they baked round honey cakes as an offering to Artemis, Goddess of Moon. The smoke of the candle was believed to carry prayers up to God.

Well, cakes serve a very indispensable purpose in lighting up not just weddings and birthdays but every mini or grand occasion it graces. Over time, cakes have evolved from honey and topped sweetbreads to tiers of aesthetic treats with the advent of technology and discovery of spices.
