As summer draws nearer, more and more of us start thinking about hitting the beach. Whether it is going off on a beach holiday, travelling the world and relaxing on some of the finest around or simply hitting the sand close to you, it is a great way to spend your time. Of course, if you can enjoy some awesome surfing at the same time, all the better! Even if you do not get out on the water, many of us will adopt more of a beach-oriented lifestyle over the summer in some way.
While this means lots of fresh air, sun and fun with friends or family, it can also have people worried about looking their best. As the temperature goes up and we change into our swimwear, then we all want to have that toned beach body to show off. Unfortunately many of us will have overindulged over the winter and need a little help to get that 6-pack back.
If you need a few cool ways to go from beached whale to beach body, the below should help.
Get fit
There is no way around it – to get the ripped physique or toned bod you want, you will have to put the work in. This is especially true if you let your workout regime slide over winter and have excess pounds to shift. While it would be nice, it will simply not go away on its own! This means you have to commit to an exercise plan to help shed fat, build muscle where needed and get you back into shape. The great thing about this is that you have lots of choice in how you do it – just pick the one you find interesting and will be able to do at least two or three times per week. From standard gym sessions to cycling, running and boxing, there are many ways to get in shape and get fit.
Whatever you decide to do, make sure you get the right fitness gear to see better results and workout safely. This could be anything from buying the right sneakers for what you are doing to wearing compression clothing during your sessions. Choosing copper-infused sports clothing is particularly good as it helps support your body when exercising while copper compression wear also helps promote blood flow to aid recovery afterwards.
Follow the right diet
Next to exercise, diet and nutrition is key to getting that classic beach body look. If you want a 6-pack, then you need to eat the foods that will help achieve it. That does not include Big Mac’s and Hershey Bars unfortunately! The best advice here is to eat a varied diet that is rich in fresh fruit and vegetables. Some protein is also needed as this will help to actually lose weight while also promoting lean muscle mass. Plain water is the best thing to drink and you should aim to have around eight glasses a day to stay properly hydrated. It is also sensible to cut back on alcohol or cut it out altogether for quicker results.
Cut out snacks
As well as simply following the right kind of diet, you also need to ditch the snacks. Many of us just don’t realize how many of these we consume each day and how much those extra calories add up over the months. If you want to look good on the beach, you need to stick to three balanced meals per day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and not eat in-between. Doing this will help you stop overeating and putting on fat that hinders your ability to get truly ripped.
Get enough sleep
Proper sleep is actually key to achieving any fitness goals and this is true for getting a beach body. Whether you need to put muscle on or lose weight, getting enough sleep is crucial. Enough rest will not only help your body grow and repair after exercise but also keep your appetite in check. Being tired will cause you to feel too low on energy to complete your workouts and encourage you to skip sessions. To really see the best results, try to get between 8-10 hours each night.
Start now to hit the beach in style
One classic mistake most people make is leaving it too late to begin working towards their fitness goals. To get a toned, impressive body that is beach ready will take longer than a few weeks! For most people, it will involve months of hard work. If you are ready to begin now, hopefully the above has given you some good ideas on how to get started.
