5 Tips for Making Your New Apartment Feel Like Home

April 2, 2019

Moving to a new apartment gives you a chance to start anew. It’s a perfect opportunity to update your décor, get organized, and create a home you’ll love.

Of course, you are making an apartment feel like a home is more comfortable said than done. That’s so especially when you’re working within the restraints of a lease agreement.

The good thing, they’re some changes you can do on modern apartment homes that’ll allow you to personalize it to your needs and wants.

Here are some fantastic ways to make your house look great and amazing.

  1. Hang a Wall Art

Many people fear hanging art and photos on their walls. They do this for fear of having to fill up these holes when moving out.

However, wall art can work wonders in giving your space some personal surprises. It’s even better when your apartment comes in a standard renter’s white shade.

A popular and timeless solution is the gallery wall. And an arrangement of drawings, photographs, prints, and drawings. Of course, before you go creating a gallery wall from floor-to-ceiling, check with your leasing authority to ensure they’re okay with the use of nails in walls. Another alternative would be to use nonadhesive wall mounts instead.

  1. Replace the Light Fixtures

Swapping out light fixtures allows you to add a personal style to a given space. However, it’s one of the many things that most renters overlook.

Replace the old and ugly lighting on your bedroom with a chandelier. Keep these fixtures safe in an apartment. When moving out, put the old fittings back and carry yours with you.

  1. Cover the Flooring

Most rental apartments are notorious for dated linoleum. If you move to a house with bad flooring, there’s only one alternative: cover it up.

Laying down a carpet that covers the floor is a good and inexpensive solution to hide the flooring eyesore.

  1. Try Using a Removable Wallpaper

The lessor is responsible for painting the walls in their premises. As a tenant, you may not be allowed to undertake this exercise. But this shouldn’t mean that you’re stuck with a funny color you don’t like.

More and more paint brands and wallpaper companies are offering temporary versions of their top prints. These options are easy to place and won’t damage the painted walls when removing them.

You can use bold patterns to give an accent wall in your living room or the bedroom. Use your best print to give old cabinets and appliances a non-permanent facelift.

  1. Create the Look That You Love

Once you rent an apartment, there are some things that you’re stuck with for years. Yes, you’re stuck with that orange shower stall. Your furniture and décor help create a space that you can’t wait to get home to every day.

Ensure your relocation and stay in your new apartment is a breeze. Ensure you have enough money to pay for your rental security deposit and other costs.
